Our venue is the "Centro Marista " - an expansive, park-like area, which is situated amidst beautiful mountainous scenery. The lush natural surroundings include unspoiled native flora and fauna. The provincial town Mendes is nearby. Rio de Janeiro can be reached in a one-hour car ride. General Information

Our venue, the Fazenda Sao Jose das Paineiras, is a former monastery.	The lush and expansive natural setting, swimming pool and sports facilities will all contribute to your recreation, relaxation and contemplation.
If you want to experience the real Brazil and its people, if you dont need a luxurious hotel and if you love the summer, you will get what you are looking for here!	It is situated amidst beautiful mountainous scenery near the provincial town of Mendes.

Leisure Time Activities

On the grounds of the Fazenda, hiking paths and ecologically educational walks invite you to spend leisure time outdoors. There is a climbing garden for outdoor training and a big swimming pool, as well as a gym, a sports field and table-tennis tables. Various pieces of sports equipment can be rented from the reception. Riding horses are at your disposal.
If you register beforehand, guided tours to historic coffee fazendas as well as other sights in the vicinity can be organized.

The lively town of Mendes is only 2 kilometers away, the university town of Vassouras with its beautiful colonial buildings and coffee fazendas is 15 kilometers away and can be easily reached by bus or cab in 30 min. The vibrant Rio de Janeiro with its beaches is only a one-hour car ride away and is an ideal destination for weekend trips. If you want to travel to Rio de Janeiro, we are happy to help you find good budget hotels. Buses are running regularly between Mendes and Rio de Janeiro. The bus ride to Rio takes about 90 min. A cab costs about 40 .
Weekend trips to the breathtaking tropical beaches along the coast of the State of Rio de Janeiro (e.g. to Itacurusa) can also be booked.

Food

The Compact Accommodation Package includes full board with rich dishes and provision during breaks. A buffet with vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes is offered. Most of these dishes are prepared with home-grown organic fruit and vegetables and organic meat. Drinks during mealtimes are not included in the total price. Youll enjoy the healthy and tasty Brazilian cuisine, tropical fruit, vegetables and local specialties.

Accommodation

On the expansive grounds of the Fazenda, accommodation is provided in the two main buildings (building A and B), in the Pousada (guest house) as well as in two small chalets. All rooms and facilities are very clean and well-maintained but are kept in a simple, monastery-like style. The rooms are sunny and very light, opening up a view into the luscious green fauna and have their own special charm. Rooms are available in three categories. There are two or three beds in each room.

Category A

These rooms are available as singles or doubles. They are all equipped with a private bathroom with shower and toilet.

Rooms in Category A1 are reformed and have TV, telephone, refrigerator and fan.

Rooms in Category A2 have TV, telephone, refrigerator and fan. Some of these rooms have a balcony.

Rooms in Category A3 have telephone, but no refrigerator and no TV. Some of them have fan and access to a public patio, refrigerator and TV.

Category B

These rooms are available as singles, doubles or dorms. They are functionally furnished, light and sunny. These rooms are equipped with a wash-basin. Several public bathrooms with showers and toilets (Ladies and Gentlemen separately) can be found on each floor.

General Information

Telephone and Internet are available at several Internet access points in the Fazenda as well as at the Fazendas free Internet cafe.

Your GSM Handy is operational in Brazil. We, however, recommend bying prepaid chips and Brazilian calling cards, which are a lot less expensive.

In winter, the time difference between Rio and Germany is 3 hours, Rio is 3 hours behind. In January and February, the temperatures reach approximately 28 Celsius (about 82 F); the climate can be compared to summer in southern Europe.

The vibrant Rio de Janeiro with its beaches, only a one-hour car ride away, is ideal for weekend trips. If you want to travel to Rio de Janeiro, we are happy to help you find good budget hotels or rental cars. You can also get to Rio by bus in about 90 min and a cab costs about 60 Euro. Right after the Camp, Rio hosts its world-famous carnival. Those who are interested and who book their flights in time, will have the opportunity to experience this unique event as well.
