Hans-Ulrich Schachtner has studied communication for forty years, inspired by the realization that most physical and emotional illnesses are attributable to loveless communication. He embarked on his "journey to knowledge" with the intent of learning from the best thinkers in the field. He discovered the work of Milton H. Erickson, now a successful, internationally acclaimed hypnotherapist, and was his student from 1976 to 1980. Furthermore, Hans-Ulrich translated Milton's book Hypnotic Realities into German and got to know Erickson as both a therapist and a private person.

In 1981 he made contact with the social worker Frank Farrelly, studied under him and introduced his "provocative therapy" to Germany.

In his report Hans-Ulrich will discuss what he learned from Milton and Frank and how the ProSt (provocative style) and the MagSt (magical communication style) were developed.

About the presenter

Hans-Ulrich Schachtner is a psychologist, licensed psychotherapist, mediator, and experienced coach of executives and couples. He has worked for decades as trainer, supervisor, and self-awareness leader, and is recognized by the Chamber of Physicians and Psychotherapists. He co-founded the Milton Erickson Society and the German Institute for Provocative Therapy and also developed the communication styles "ProSt" (provocative style) and "MagSt" (magic style). He is the author of many standard works on the provocative and the magic communication style, und has performed in a cabaret addressing the theme of partnership.
