The Evolution of Values from Ken Wilber’s Integral Perspective

According to Ken Wilder, the universe has been subject to a "tetra-evolution" for more than 14 billion years. This evolution has taken place inside and outside the individual and the systemic dimension. The tetra-evolution of mankind has been going on for more than 100,000 years. Parallel to the "outer" development of the brain, there has been an exciting "inner" development of consciousness, including values. Nine very different worlds of values have evolved as an expression of different levels of self-awareness. Each level is linked to a completely different view and evaluation of the world, which means that on every level we must speak differently and use fitting and understandable methods in order to reach other people in their particular worlds.

After a short introduction to the integral evolution approach and Professor Graves' "spiral dynamics," which describes a hierarchy of values, we will experience the different value levels, in particular levels 4 to 6, where more than 90 percent of western Europeans are situated. Changing values entails shifting from one value level to another. The only question is whether we want to go back to an earlier level or progress to a "higher" one.

Rolf Lutterbeck is an integral business coach, an NLP Master Trainer, and specialist in organizational and structural constellations. He currently lives in Bad Homburg, Germany.
Since 1996 he has worked as a freelance management consultant and a coach and trainer for business owners, managers, and freelance service providers.

His holistic approach is oriented toward Ken Wilber´s integral approach and Professor Varga von Kibéd's systemic principles. He offers compact training courses for integral coaches and for structural constellations.

Rolf Lutterbeck is vice-chairman of the Integral Initiative Frankfurt (www.ii-frankfurt.de) and a member of IF (Integrales Forum), infosyon, and DVNLP.
